Shibei Industrial Zone was approved by the Planning Committee of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government to be planned constructed and developed by People’s Government of Zhabei District in 1992. The Zone became the key area of Shanghai Shibei manufacturing service industries’ convergent zone in 2005. In 2006, the Zone was titled as the fourth batch of provincial zones by the National Development and Reform Commission.

  Shibei Industrial Zone is one of the major industry function zones built by Zhabei District. Since 2003, it has been contributing to the regional economy for 3 consecutive years at the growth rate of over 40%. In 2005, its contribution rate to the regional economy reached 6.6%, and the Zone has become one of greatest contributors of Zhabei District.
