TongJi University National University Science Park has a 8,800m2 high-standard science park headquaters building. With its powerful scientific research strength the Park has assembled a great number of successful new and hi-tech enterprises, forming strong scientific pioneering atmosphere. The Park has passed the reviewing procedures of the National Science Park, and will become the 2nd National Science Park in Yangpu District. Relying on the characteristics of the Architecture Subject in Tongji University, Yangpu District has planned and constructed Tongji Designing Street along Chifeng Road, Miyun Road and Siping Road abutting Tongji University. Now, there sit altogether 100,000m2 business buildings with over 500 large and small enterprises having settled down, which mainly focus on designing or related industries like drawing and illustration manufacture, model manufacture, construction supervision, etc.. They will develop into a group of leading industries characteristic of architecture design with the supplement of intellectual service industries, such as car design, environmental protection design, landscape design, art and communication design and so on, thus forming an industry chain and an industry network developing both horizontally and vertically.

  The Guokang Base of the Park plans to develop the other plot of Guokang Road in one or two phases, making the management area of the whole zone of the Base reach 60mu. The first phase occupies an area of 18.9mu with the architectural area of 52,799m2 and has been completed into use since 2003. Relying on the strong architecture and civil technology platform, with the rapid development of the Design Industry Circle of Tongji University, the special characteristics of the Base will be emphasized with architecture design as the leading business and design-related industries such as city planning, environment art, industrial design and so on as the key businesses to form an up-and-down stream industry chain that focuses on design, supplemented by function facilities, such as design service center, design and communication center, design culture salon, design and recreation center, etc.. Its aim is to become the architecture design center of Shanghai and even of the whole country.
