Shanghai Xinmin Economic Zone is established in December 1993 as one of the earliest five development zones in Songjiang District. Nowdays, there are 1250 registered enterprises in the zone, 465 of which are industry ones. The production value reached 1,000,000,000 RMB and the revenue achieved 51,350,000 RMB in 2000, ranking the 3rd among the 27 development zones in Songjiang District. The Economic Zone governed Shanghai Xinmin Economic Development Company, who is in charge of attracting businesses, handling certificate, capital construction and management in the zone. The company has set a few offices in the urban areas of Shanghai in order to provide convenience for private enterprises to consult and to invest to start busisinesses.

  Xinmin Economic Zone is located in Xinqiao Town in the southwest urban area of Shanghai, neighbouring Songjiang District, Shanghai to its west. It is 3 kilometers from Xinzhuang Metro Station of Shanghai, 12 kilometers from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The first exit (Xinqiao) of Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway is just along the town, joined with Humin Road, Shanghai Outer Ring Line, Qixin Line and Shanghai-Songjiang Highway, forming a traffic network with many lines directing straight to the urban areas.
