Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone is a city level industrial zone established in Oct. 1995 at the approval of Shanghai Municipal Government. It is located in the center of Shanghai, covering an area of 17.88 square kilometers. The Zone is constructed and operated by Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone Management Committee authorized by the government of Minhang District. Its concrete business including investment attraction and daily construction are conducted by Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone Economic and Technological Development Corporation.
 
  In the past decade, the Zone has become mature with the joint-effort of its constructors and investors and is now on a sound and steady track of development. It is one of the first choices for foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Shanghai.
 
  Up till Dec. 2006, there are 361 enterprises home and abroad settled down in the Zone. Among them are 267 foreign ones who have altogether invested 4.45 billion USD. Seventy six percent of all foreign-funded enterprises are from US, EU and Japan. And there are 35 world top 500 enterprises and 72 enterprises with over 10 million USD investments. The Zone has formed a industrial pattern mainly consisted of micro-electronics telecommunication, mechanics and vehicle components, and new material and fine chemistry industries. The Zone is constructing its panel screen industrial park as its strategic development promoter.
 
  The Zone boasts convenient transportation and complete supporting facilities with all-rounded functions of logistics, tax bond, and accommodation. It is surrounded by almost half of all the universities, colleges, research institutes, and vocational training centers in Shanghai.
 
  On entering the new century, the four-millennium-old Xinzhuang is booming with unprecedented vitality. It has been making great efforts in building itself into an eco-friendly industrial zone and was certified by ISO14001 Environment Management System in Nov. 2001, by ISO9001 Quality Management System in Nov. 2002, by OHSAS18001 Occupation Health and Safety Management System in Nov. 2003, as one of the first to be certified in quality, environment and health. And the Zone is endeavoring to build up a National Model Eco-Friendly Industrial Zone.
 
  The park focuses on modern manufacturing industry and is developing to in a two-polar direction with the carrying-out of its industrial restructuring. In one direction, it proactively develops headquarters economy, attracting headquarters, operating centers, and R&D centers to the Zone. In the other direction, it promotes the development of modern service sector, attracting commercial and sales, agent and consulting enterprises. And through the restructuring, a city industrial zone of multinational investment, R&D, sales center is taking shape.
