1.       The brief introduction   

Zhabei is one of the central districts of Shanghai. It neighbors Hongkou District in east, connects Putuo District in west, links Jingan in south and adjoins Baoshan District in the north. Zhabei District locates at the center of Shanghai, in possession of a 4.75-kilometer-long mother river of Shanghai- Suzhou River. Zhabei District covers 29.21 square kilometers, with 810,000 residents. 

2. The main advantages

As one of the central districts with long history and the most developed transportation, geographically speaking, Zhabei is the important hub that connects Shanghai with the Yangtze Delta and other provinces of China.

Zhabei has convenient transportation network. Shanghai Railway Station, coach station and the biggest railway cargo transport station in China have formed huge scale of passengers and goods current. South-North Elevated Highway is the central axis of transportation network in Shanghai; subways, elevated highways and bus lines form the communication network radiating in all directions.

Zhabei has harmonious ecological environment. The environment is excellent in Zhabei District. It possesses Daning Lingshi Park, Guangzhong Park, Zhabei Park, which cover 960,000 square meters of city public green land. The largest and the most beautiful park of Puxi- Daning Lingshi Park, has a total area of 650,000 square meters.

Zhabei has rich human resources. The secondary education of Zhabei ranks high in all the districts and counties in Shanghai. Shanghai University, the key universities in Shanghai, is located in Zhabei District. 4. Development plan

As to the planning layout, Zhabei District will put the Everbright City area, central Daning cultural center and Shanghai multimedia valley as the core region and lay the Suzhou River tourist and entertainment district and the Northern suburb logistic zone as the supporting region, turn the Zhabei District into a modern transportation business district, and will construct and develop the modern urban-oriented industry depending on the Shibei Industrial New Zone.

 5. Investment environment

In recent years, the city construction of Zhabei has achieved considerable progress. The construction of municipal infrastructure is developing very fast. The important municipal projects such as the Pearl Line - Metro Line 3, Gonghexin Road elevated road has built up and brought into use. The north extension project of subway No.1 has put into use, and subway M8 is under construction now. The “people- oriented ”environmental greening has made great progress, and the educational, healthy and sports supporting facilities continuously update and improve. At present, Daning Lingshi Park, the largest park in Puxi area, and the green landscape along the Suzhou River, have boost the district green rate to 14.53%, with per capita green area amounting to 2.14 square meters.

As to the functions of commerce and trade, Zhabei is the important area that gathers the core functions of urban cities. Everbright City is one of the eight commerce and trade centers of Shanghai. At present, the construction area of the office buildings in this area has reached 1,800,000 square meters. Depending on the Daning Lingshi Park, the central commercial and cultural center will become the public activity center integrating shopping, sports, culture and entertainment. Zhabei District also possesses the famous Shanghai University, which is abundant in good education resources.

Daning The Life Hub
An exciting, open-air, innovative and integrated urban lifestyle center of 250,000 sq m will soon emerge in central Zhabei, north of Shanghai CBD.

Shanghai Multimedia Valley
Shanghai Multimedia Valley is located in the central area of Zhabei District, covers an area of 600 mu. It focuses on the multimedia technology research and development, test platform, enterprise incubation and software products design and sales. There are Multimedia Technology R&D Base and Shanghai Multimedia Industrialization Base in SMV.

The first and second phase of Shanghai Multimedia Industrialization Base is located in the central part of Zhabei District- 777 Lane, West Guzhong Road. It lies beside the largest park in downtown area - Daning Lingshi Park of 68 hectares. Subway No.1 has been opened in West Guangzhong Road and the bus lines have been put into operation.

Shibei Industrial New Zone
Shanghai Shibei Industrial New Zone is a city-level industrial park, initially approved by Planning Commission of Shanghai Municipal  Government in 1992, and opened up by Zhabei Distrit Government. It’s located in the northern of Shanghai, near the cargo-railway station, and spreads over 120.6 hectares.
