A complete three-dimensional (water, air, road & rail) transportation network has been formed in Minhang District. The district owns the most convenient traffic condition among all the coastal cities.

Air transportation: Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in Minhang District. It is only 10 minutes’ drive away from the district government. It takes only 30 minutes to drive from the district government to Pudong International Airport.

Water transportation: 26.8km of Huang Pu River flows through the district from north to south. Along the river, eight 10,000-ton berths have been built with an annual turnover of 4 million tons.

Road & rail transportation: There are 229 roads in Minhang District with a total length of more than 1000 km. The length of high level roads per square meter is 1.2 km. No. 318 and No. 320 National Highways pass the district and lead to other provinces. The biggest interchange in Asia - Xinzhuang Interchange is connected with Outer-ring Road, Inner-ring Road, Yan’an High-elevated Road, Humin High-elevated Road, Hujia Highway, Xinfengjin Highway, Huhang Highway and Huning Highway, which make Minhang a transportation pivot in southwest Shanghai. Metro No.1 and Xinmin Elevated Light-rail line have been open to traffic. The three dimensional traffic network of Minhang has been fundamentally formed.

The environment construction in Minhang District takes a leading place in China. At present, the greenery coverage ratio of the district is 38.7% and public greenery area per capita is 14m². The concentrated treatment ratio of waste water is about 86%. In 1999, Minhang District was evaluated as the first Environment Protection Model Zone in China. In 2000, Minhang District became the State Garden Area. In 2001, it received the award of Chinese Model Living Environment. In 2002, the United Nations issued “Dubai International Award for Model Practice on Improving Living Environment” to Minhang District.

Minhang District has spent more than 30 billion USD on infrastructure construction. Water, electricity, gas, telecommunication and sewage are well supplied in the district.

Water:

The annual water supply of the district is 190 million m³, among which, all the city water comes from the upper part of Huangpu River with a daily supply of 800,000 tons.

Electricity:

In the district, there are seven 220kv substations, one 110kv substation and thirty-three 35 kv substations.

Gas:

The gas supply ratio has reached 100%, which is No.1 in Shanghai. The pipelines of East Ocean natural gas have been laid into the district.

Telecommunication:

The total capacity of telephone lines in Minhang reaches 577,200.

Sewage:

There is a sewage treatment and collection system in Minhang District which is composed of 3 sewage treatment factories and 3 drainage engineerings.  Besides a daily treatment capacity of 100,000 tons city water and 500,000 tons industrial water, this system has a drainage capacity of 650,000 tons.

Minhang District owns abundant human resource. A large group of high educational institutions and scientific research institutes are located in Minhang District, such as: Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University, National Medical Research Center for Animals, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Research Institute of State Aerospace Ministry, Shanghai Agriculture Science Institute and Donghai College etc.,. A first class Certificate & License Service Center has been open to public, in which there are 27 government departments, 63 service counters and 190 service items. “One stop service” is provided in the Center. When the paper materials are complete, Customs procedures can be finished within four hours.
