Introduction of Association
Established on May 8, 2002, Shanghai Communication Industry Association (SHCIA) is a non-profit industry organization organized voluntarily by communication operators and other telecom entities in Shanghai. SHCIA carries out its work under the supervision of Shanghai Telecommunications Administration, Shanghai Social Service Bureau and Shanghai Social Organization Administration.
It has 217 members, including Shanghai Telecom, Shanghai Mobile, Shanghai Post, Shanghai Unicom, Shanghai Netcom, Shanghai Railway Communications, Shanghai Satcom, Shanghai Bell Alcatel, and Shanghai Posts & Telecommunications, covering all business fields of telecom operation and services. The annual output value of the members has reached RMB 48.811 billion, over 93% of the total of Shanghai telecommunications industry; and 44089 employees are involved in the industry.
SHCIA’s mission is to be “united, supportive and just”. SHCIA’s functions are "service, self-discipline, representation and coordination”.
It offers the services as follows:
I.Information services: publish Information Times magazine (monthly) and Communication Focus (four pages) (semi-monthly), update the news on the website (www.shcia.org.cn) on a daily basis to provide members with information of 38 categories such as industry policies, market news, development of new technologies and businesses, technical solution options, economic analysis on communication industry, cooperation opportunity, and experience exchange.
II.Product promotion services:
1.Regularly or irregularly hold seminars, forums, appraisals and project evaluation sessions.
2.Organize product promotion activities or recommend cooperation agents for the members.
3.Sponsor or co-sponsor pubic exhibitions and trade fairs.
4.Provide advertising service for members via its website.
III.Academic exchange, technology development and project support services:
1.Conduct market investigation upon the request of members.
2.Recommend experts and scholars to give instructions for the technology R&D of the members.
3.Consulting services: provide members with consulting services regarding policies, regulations, enterprise development strategies, marketing strategies, enterprise management mode design, organization design, business process reengineering, ISO9000 certification, Six Sigma implementation, customer satisfaction survey, as well as consultancy service for project planning and implementation.
4.Exchange and cooperation services: conduct industrial, regional and international exchange and cooperation, organize visits to domestic and international exhibitions, help the members learn from the experience and technologies of the peers to further expand overseas market and introduce technologies, talents and funds.
5.Training services: design and implement various practical training courses depending on the actual situation and future development needs of members.
IV.Enterprise management, study tour and talent recommendation services:
1.Recommend professional talents for the members.
2.Provide CPC construction service to the members, and CPC membership transfer instructions to the party members.
3.Guide the personnel archives management of private enterprises.
4.Organize study tour in response to the demand of the members.
5.Recommend “Class A” candidates to the governmental departments and authoritative social credit investigation organizations.
6.Assist the members in “Hi-tech Enterprise” certification.
7.Guide and support the application for technology support fund, science and technology (industry) fund and technology award fund with governmental departments
