Established on Jan. 8, 2003, Shanghai Pigeon Trade Association (SPTA) is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by meat pigeon cultivation, processing and sales entities in Shanghai.

  Currently, SPTA has more than 50 members, including cultivation enterprises of imported meat pigeon, ornamental pigeon and square pigeon, as well as leading cultivation and research enterprises that use genetic technology and other biological technologies to develop, cultivate and breed new generations of high-quality meat pigeon. SPTA has also registered collective trademarks.

  SPTA's mission is to promote the extensive cooperation between the organizations and economic entities engaged in the cultivation, processing, sales and scientific research of meat pigeon; accelerate the application and popularization of technologies, and promote the sustainable development of meat pigeon industry; protect the legal rights and interests of meat pigeon producers, distributors and researchers, and act as a bridge between the government and meat pigeon cultivation, processing, research and sales enterprises and economic entities; accelerate standard, normative and scientific industry management, and establish and improve the credit system of the industry; perform the functions and tasks assigned by the government and provide the government with consulting and suggestions for policy decision-making.

  SPTA publishes Shanghai Pigeon Information (quarterly), and has a website; holds trade fairs of high-quality meat pigeon and rare ornamental pigeon, and organizes trainings for the members from time to time; develops self-discipline pact, industry standards, rules and regulations, and actively participates in agricultural product trade fairs to increase the market competitiveness of meat pigeon products. 

  SPTA is willing to work and cooperate with the insiders all over the world to promote the development of meat pigeon cultivation industry.
