Established in 1996, Shanghai Automotive Trade Association (SATA) is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by automotive entities in Shanghai.

  Currently, SATA has 216 members, mainly including Shanghai-based manufacturing enterprises of car, bus, truck, special-purpose vehicle, modified car, motorcycle, tractor and auto parts, as well as some scientific research institutes, financial service providers, vehicle and parts sales enterprises, covering various sectors of economy. The key economic indicators such as production volume, sales income and profit of the members account for 95% of the total of the industry in Shanghai.

  SATA’s mission is to do well industry service, industry self-discipline, industry representation and industry coordination, take the government economic development strategies as guidelines, enhance the enterprise’s competitiveness in the market, and accelerate the development of Shanghai automotive industry.

  SATA has Office, Member Affairs Department, Industry Information Department, Industry Statistics Department and International Department. 

  SATA’s functions are to provide members with industry information service, domestic and international trade negotiation service, law consulting service, exhibition service, and so on; to be involved in the government decision-making process concerning industry development, industry reform and industry interests, propose suggestions on economic policies and legislation, participate in the hearings held by the government, and be involved in development of Shanghai automotive industry planning and pre-phase consulting for investment projects upon the assignment of the government; to appraise famous trademarks and brand products; to conduct industry statistics and industry investigation, and provide industry information; to organize training for practitioners; and, to advance the construction of credit system of the industry.
