I. General information
  Shanghai Stone Material Trade Association is the only stone material industry organization in Shanghai approved by Shanghai Economic and Trade Commission, Shanghai Trade Association Development Bureau and registered with Shanghai Social Organization Administration. Now it has 530 members.

II. Mission and functions
  The Association's mission is to protect the interests of stone material enterprises in Shanghai, promote the technological progress of the industry as well as application of natural stone materials in construction, protect the orderly development and fair play of Shanghai stone material market, promote the interconnection, exchange and overall development of the industry. Its functions include training, market investigation, industry consulting, exhibition, information release, publication and enterprise appraisal.

III. Work scope
1.Information service: provide information via Stone Material Yearbook, Shanghai Stone Material Journal, its website www.shstone.com, Building Times and Building Material Trade (a full page of “Window to Stone Material” each month), buy stone material import and export data from the Customs monthly, and make industry statistics and analysis report quarterly.

2.Industry appraisal: appraise outstanding enterprises, trustworthy enterprises, and Golden Stone Awards among the stone material enterprises in Shanghai; recommend excellent enterprise dealing in artificial stone products, maintenance products, stone material machines and tools, stone landscaping and carving.

3.Exhibition: hold Shanghai International Stone Material Exposition in late March every year, and the Shanghai (International) Stone Material Summit, the Artificial Stone Development Forum, the Stone Material Maintenance Forum, the Stone Material Machinery & Tools Development Forum and the Urban Stone Landscaping Forum at the same time.

4.Training: conduct training for stone processing engineers, stone material construction engineers, stone material maintenance engineers, stone material project managers, with the approval from Shanghai Office for Urgently Required Talents.

5.Exchange and coordination: hold “Forum on Cooperation between Stone Material Markets and Origin Regions” together with stone material associations in 15 foreign countries (including Italy, Spain, Egypt and India), China Stone Material Industry Association, stone material associations of Fujian, Guangdong, Shandong and other provinces and cities, as well as the governments of Yunfu (Guangdong), Laizhou (Shandong), Nan'an, Huian, Jinjiang (Fujian) and other local governments; keeps close connection and communication with the quality supervision, industry and commerce, customs and other departments to reduce friction and maintain a good business environment for the enterprises.

6.Industry management: assist Shanghai Building Material Office in registration, competency assessment and multi-level management of stone material enterprises.
