Established in Dec. 1996, Shanghai Gold & Jewellery Trade Association (GJTAS) is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by gold/platinum retail, wholesale, production, processing and enterprises and institutions in Shanghai.

  Currently, GJTAS has 108 members, with industry coverage of  75%. The members occupy the market share of 80%.

  The mission of GJTAS is to unite the enterprises of the industry, pool industry forces, act in the interests of the industry, regulate industry behaviors, bring the industry advantages into full play, and boost the prosperity and development of Shanghai gold and jewelry industry. The functions of the GJTAS include industry investigation, industry training, exhibition promotion, product promotion, intermediary consulting, editing and publishing, and exchange of domestic and foreign technology information.

  GJTAS provides briefings and latest jewelry market news to members and relevant departments on a monthly basis, publishes Jewelry Fashion International magazine (bi-monthly), organizes members to exchange with insiders at home and abroad, and actively cooperates with governmental departments in carrying out industry self-discipline activities. It also issued Shanghai Dispute Settlement Methods for Gold/Platinum Jewelry Consumption jointly with Shanghai Consumer Council, adopted Provisional Rules for Gold/Platinum Jewelry Price Self-discipline of Shanghai Gold and Jewelry Industry, and held the Shanghai Jewelry Fashion Week 2004 together with other 11 trade associations.
