Founded in July 1987, Shanghai Sewing Machinery Association(SSMA) is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by sewing machinery manufacturing and trading enterprises and institutions in Shanghai.
 
  SSMA currently has 76 members of various ownerships, composed of light industry, textile, trading and township enterprises. These enterprises have obvious advantages and take leading positions in the industry and can provide supporting services for such industries as apparel, knitwear, underwear, leather, footwear/cap, bag, fertilizer, grain, automobile, ship, and airplane.

  Secretariat of SSMA is responsible for the daily work. SSMA holds the National Sewing Machinery Components Fair annually together with Zhejiang Sewing Machinery Association, Jiangsu Sewing Machinery Association and Shanghai Hualian Sewing Equipment Co., Ltd. Training Department of SSMA is responsible for training technicians, senor workers and medium worker for sewing machinery enterprises, and SSMA also holds industry and trade exchanges annually.
