Established on Dec. 24, 1986, Shanghai Fertilizer and Pesticide Trade Association (SFPTA), is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by fertilizer and pesticide enterprises and institutions in Shanghai.

  SFPTA has 93 members of various ownerships, including fertilizer enterprises producing nitrogenous fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer, potassium fertilizer, compound fertilizer, organic fertilizer, bio-fertilizer, special fertilizer, plant hormone and soil conditioner, pesticide enterprises manufacturing insecticide, herbicide and high-efficiency biological and bio-chemical pesticides, as well as agricultural material companies at city, county and district levels, scientific research and design institutes, universities and colleges, and related equipment manufacturing enterprises.
Its functions include industry self-discipline, market investigation, market explosion, intermediary service, technical service, project assessment, education and training, exchange and exhibition.

  SFPTA now offers the following special services: the appraisal of quality products of the industry; summary and promotion of new high-tech achievements and new fertilizer & pesticide products; initial review for Shanghai Business License for Agricultural Materials and Products; and initial review for Pesticide Production Approval Certificate.
