Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Manufacturers Trade Association (SEAMTA), established in September 1987, is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by industrial electrical apparatus enterprises and institutions in Shanghai.

  SEAMTA currently has 226 members of various ownerships, accounting for more than two thirds of the number of industrial electrical apparatus producers in Shanghai. The products of the members represent the advanced level of industrial electrical apparatus in the world. The total annual sales amount of SEAMTA members is up to RMB 12 billion, about 90% of the total of the industry.

  SEAMTA regulates and conducts all its work according to market practices, organizes industry investigation, provides the Shanghai government and related departments with planning and proposals concerning the development of electrical apparatus industry, establishes industry information network, develops the relationship with non-government economic and technical organizations in various countries and regions, conducts cooperation and exchange activities in the fields of economics and technology, publishes Shanghai Electrical apparatus Industry Newsletter (monthly) and Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Technologies magazine (quarterly), makes industry statistics, offers domestic and international industry information timely to the members, conducts training, consulting and coordination for international certification and domestic certification of the members, organizes the appraisal of quality products of the industry, does well promotion and marketing services for the quality products of the members, recommends and finds joint venture and cooperation projects for the members actively, facilitates Shanghai electrical apparatus industry to explore domestic and international markets, implements various career trainings, establishes industry self-discipline mechanism, takes measures against fake and shoddy products, and protects quality products.
