Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Trade Association (STCMA) was established on Dec. 1989. Most of the association' s members are industrial and commercial enterprises. 1015 enterprises have the membership, which has covered 97% of the Traditional Chinese Medicine enterprises in Shanghai.

    Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine trade is a large trade that integrates science, industry and trade and it is a special trade, which has a distinctive speciality and demands a high-level standard for management. STCMA bases its four fundamental responsibility upon “Service, Self-Discipline, Represent, Coordinate”. Focused on the economic development of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, we take surveys and studies in the advancement of technology, make proposals and suggestions of system reform, and participate in drafting the projects of the strategy of development of STCMA. The association is entrusted by the government administrative agency to audit the prices of Traditional Chinese Medicine and it is in charge of the industrial and commercial statistics. We take an active part in self-discipline of management, organizing the matches of service and management in all aspects of the association and evaluation of famous commodities. The association provides information and technology consulting service for members, provides training of the professional skills and develops the communication in domestic and international economy and technology so as to promote the entirety quality of Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine community and speed up the development of Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine industry.

      91 directors are elected in the fourth council of STCMA, among them there are 41 executive managers, XU JIN BAI takes the post as President.CHEN ZHENG HUI is the general secretary of STCMA.Secretariat is daily agency of the association. The general office, the Industry Department, the Train Department, the Price Office are under control of the Secretariat.

     At the request of the regulation made by the government administrative agency, Shanghai TCM Price Committee was found. And for the development of TCM industry, the association established two special Committees: Traditional Chinese Medicine Tablets Committee and Traditional Chinese Medicine Pharmaceutical Committee are founded.
