Under the leadership of Shanghai municiple economic commission, and sponsored by Shanghai chemical industrial Bureau & Shanghai second light industrial Bureau,  SPTA was beginning to prerare set up in 1987.  Through 3 years preperation , The SPTA was formal founded in 1990. Through last two term of executive council & secretarial staff’s  hard work ,  SPTA achived great successes and was chosen as “Advanced  association” two times in 1994 & 2001 respectively by Shanghai industrial economic federation, and was awarded prize medal . The third term change election of SPTA was held in Dec. 2002. The leader of Shanghai Petrochemical Co.Ltd. was chosen as new president, and the leader of Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Co.; Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical Co.----etc.,total 18 enterprises were chosen as vice president ; 56 enterprises formed third new board of directors. SPTA  set up two branch committee:The PVC Products Professional Committee and The Plastics Packaging Professional Committee. Now the sum member of SPTA are 260. These members subordinate to petrochemical; chemical industry; light industry; mecanical & electrical; building material etc. different industrial department, and contain all different kind ownership system; such as :  state own ;  joint-venture;  foreign investment;  & private own.. In these members also include many related university & Institute.  The member of SPTA coverd all five special field in plastic industry: the resin & plastic preperation ; the plastic product processing ; the plastic additive production; the plastic mould design & production; the plastic machinery manufacture.

   Under the guide of Shanghai municipal economic commission, Shanghai municipal trade association development office, Shanghai industrial economic federation, the third term SPTA staff hard to work , active to develop, at first, return to publish “ Shanghai plastics news report”, and with the energetic support of Shanghai Petrechemical Co.Ltd. and its plastics business division, through 6 month preperation , SPTA has established own special web station: “Shanghai plastics web “ . “Service “ is the main aim of SPTA, so SPTA staff unremitting to visit member factories or related factories, to carry out face to face exchange idea and to listen their opinion and suggestion. So the activity promote understanding and close tie & unite between SPTA & its members . Through visit and invitation, SPTA has expended a lot of all kind system new members, greatly increase the cover area and influence of SPTA , and enormousely raise its vigor. On the base , SPTA draw up “ SPTA’s Guide regulation & guide pact.” and “SPTA  professional committee ‘s  work rules” and put into practice .

   On the other hand , SPTA also built up close tie with many countries’s consulate general commercial service office , or chamber of commerce and plastics association. Such country as: US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Italy, Singapore etc..It provide a advantage plateform for SPTA to develop international cooperation and to participate international business activity. The normal mission of SPTA are : Carry out the judgement on famous high quality products, Authentication the symbol of Green products, Assess the famous trade mark of Shanghai, Evaluate the prestige & Sincerity system of enterprises, Lay down the post standard of a new occupation,  Co-sponsor the large scale international exhibition & special forum. For example,  SPTA has cooperate with Adsale Exhibition Service Ltd. To hold the famous & large scale international exhibition on plastics & rubber industry. In view of the remarkable works, SPTA has been chosen as “ Advanced association “ and awarded prize medal another time in 2003 by Shanghai industrial economic federation.

   Under the guide of “Shanghai municipal economic commission ”, “Shanghai municipal trade association development office”, “ Shanghai industries economic federation “ , SPTA will continue to according the aim “ service , coordination , protect the right & interest , self- discipline ” ,advanced with the trend of times , to make further contribution for whole plastics industry in Shanghai.
